Anxiety may be one of the most uncomfortable and distressing mental health conditions but also the most common and treatable.
The ultimate goal is to confront whatever it is that is making you anxious, which at times can be terrifying, but also liberating. Depending on your symptoms, situation and condition, there are many viable solutions to treat anxiety. I utilize a variety of approaches which integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Breath work, and self- care techniques which can reduce the symptoms.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a research-based approach for treating specific anxiety symptoms and include techniques such as:
Self-reflection
Increase your awareness in regards to your own thoughts, feelings and behaviors towards your situation: In order to change, we first need to identify the targets for change.
Cognitive Restructuring
Challenging your current thinking patterns and replacing them with realistic thoughts about your situation.
Alternative Perspectives
Training your brain with new thought patterns in order to approach your difficulties from a new perspective.
Behavioral Techniques
Learning specific techniques to manage anxiety and reduce or eliminate panic attacks.
Graduated Exposure
Revealing the situations make you anxious then rating them as anxiety levels, facing the least anxious situations first.
Alternative therapies / techniques:
- Mindfulness therapy: develops a greater awareness of one's thoughts, emotions, feelings, surroundings, and situations. Practice being fully present and in the moment.
- Meditation: learn meditation practices which can increase the capacity to manage anxiety and build mental resilience.
- Breathwork: learning to breathe in a conscious and connected way, it can have incredibly positive effects on alleviating stress and panic disorders.
- Cold exposure therapy: lowers the heart rate which makes you feel calmer thus less anxious while creating endorphins which are responsible for lowering stress. Allows your mind to become more resilient to everyday stress.
